This is such a widespread fad now. What is a Mudkip? Most people that see it seem to think it is something dirty, but really it isn’t. It is nothing more than a stupid Pokemon character.

On many gaming boards this word pops up time and time again as a random post. You will see many, many ASCII pics of these stupid little Mudkips. ALWAYS you will see this:

Mudkip’s name is a portmanteau of mud, being a surrounding of its natural habitat, and Kip, which refers to Skip, relating to a the Mudskipper, the fish it resembles. It also resembles an axolotl. Its Japanese name, Mizugorou, is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for water (水, mizu?) and mudskipper (鯥五郎, mutsugorō?). The name Mudkip refers to both the overall species, and to individual Mudkip within the games, anime and manga series.

So what is the fascination? Is it some sort of computer memory upgrade?

Mudkip is a legendary creature. It’s known as a friend to the Claw Monster and Your Mom. Legend says that somebody was approached by a mysterious entity, who said “so i herd u liek mudkips.” It was then said that that one person created an image based on that strange quote. The image has recently resurfaced in /b/ on 4chan.

It is said that a Mudkip can be found lurking underwater, 4chan, DeviantART, IRC, as well as your Game Boy, your closet, and in your bed, jizzing off to a combusken. Started as another Meme on 4chan, it elevated to go on to the Drshnaps Asylum, where it festered and died. And was quickly replaced with the shoop da woop Phenomenon, what with their royal rainbows and whatnot.

Doesn’t matter where I go online I see people talking about Apple like they invented everything from computers to mp3 players. Not only did they invent it all, but they are better than everything else. Crazy posters saying that you don’t even need spy software with a Mac computer because they are so advanced. Newsflash…No one wastes their time making viruses for Macs because hardly anyone has one. Doesn’t mean that these computers are more secure by any stretch of the imagination.

Then you get into the iPod vs. Zune people. I have an iPod and while it is functioning and works OK, I couldn’t ever say it is in the same league as the Zune. If it wasn’t for the piecemeal sales of all the iPod accessories I would have switched to something else long ago. They don’t even give you a wall power adapter with the thing. $400 and no power source other than having to plug it in to your computer? It may cost you $400 to get an iPod or whatever it costs now, but it will probably cost you another $400 just to get it to play in your car, and to get a speaker system to play it with out using headphones, or your computer. Those headphones you could get out of a Cracker Jack box too.

This has nothing to do with anything really. It’s just one of my favorite eCards i send to people on their anniversary. Since it is Wednesday and Wordless Wednesday at that, I picked this picture for the day.

If you ever read my JMH techtronics blog, you know how much I hate ChaCha. Take a look at my ChaCha archives posts to see why. Although I think their service sucks, and that they get very little web traffic, I do know that there service is great for killing time and getting some cheap entertainment.

What this slave wage baron does is that it has live guides who search for things for you on the net. So instead of using Google like anyone with a kindergarten education would, they actually pay guides in pop cans to look for what you want. Most of the time that is “Mudkips”, “MIRITE!?”, and “Are you a girl?”.

Some of the guides get upset about it. Never understood why. At least 3/4 of the searches are pranks. The guides get paid for it either way so it may as well be fun. For what they get paid I can’t see why they would even care. Anyways…if you want to get a few chuckles and waste a half an hour go a head and hit up CahCah and post a transcript in the comments of your session with a guide so you can give me a laugh.

Another funny thing is that they actually have some sort of policy on their site that says you can only link to them using the words “ChaCha” or something or other. I never do and never will.
