Neverending Polls: Do You Read Video Game Manuals on the Crapper?

Sort of a tradition for many gamers is to test the limits of their car insurance trying to get home, head into the bathroom, settle in, and start reading their new video game manual. I know this is something I tend to do as tradition :).

In fact, if I don’t even have to go, I may not even touch the manual until I do have to take a #2 ;).

Many people find this very odd, but I know of many others that have this very same tradition as I do. When I get a game that does not have a game manual I am quite disappointed. Half-Life 2 was surely one of those games. Even though you know the controls for PC FPS games already, you at least want a bit of story, and/or extra tips don’t you before you play? Why not get us all more excited to play while we have our alone time with our new game?

Sports games are long-term and well read manuals in my bathroom. You can never get too many extra tips for Madden. There are so many extra elements to the game that most people never even realize unless they study the manual pretty carefully.

What do you think?

Firefox Extensions: Youplayer

Youplayer is a pretty handy Firefox extension for people that like to share videos online as much as possible. It also allows you to watch videos in a small window in like a bookmark style window to the left of your browser.

How often do you see a video posted on a board that you just love, but don’t really want to have 666 different video accounts with all the video sites to save it, or have an entire bookmark folder for them? Those hysterical Natalie Portman Rap video, George Washington video, hotties bouncing jugglies in their home gyms, etc. I know I see videos all the time that I either want to watch over and over again, or ones that people post which are just way too long to watch at one time. Like all those stupid ass conspiracy theory videos which I don’t even believe, but HAVE to watch anyways for some odd reason. I guess I watch them so that I can mock on the people that believe them.

Anyways, the extension lets you add the url and a title to it to save in one click. You can use it for virtually anything actually like a regular bookmark folder, but I like it a bit better because it has the mini-player window on it so I can listen to it if it doesn’t really need to be watched while I browse elsewhere. Download it directly here, or go to the Youplayer Page and get it there.

Crap TV Flashback: Charles In Charge

I was wasting away 12 of my 18 hours awake like I usually do browsing youtube and porn videos and decided that when I saw this video I was going to start paying homage to crappy TV shows. Shows that when I was about 5 were filling the savings accounts of guys like Scott Baio. So when the mood strikes you may see some of the lamest TV shows ever made and their theme songs begin to show up here. The nostalgia will make you cream your drawers.

You can’t help but smile when you hear the Charles in Charge theme can you? His best friend Buddy, and the hot little Nicole Eggert before she appeared on Baywatch. The other 2 kids were lame, but Nicole was the shiznit when you were just realizing you had a funny feeling in your pantalones (Spanish for pants. Not Mexican for pants. Didn’t you read the Emo-Bashing Post?) So with out further a do check out the Charles In Charge Theme and Intro…

Season 2 Intro:

Couldn’t really tell you if they made a new one every year or not, but I don’t have THAT much free time.

Metal Gear Awesome Videos

Now…it is rather annoying that these guys won’t post their Metal Gear Awesome videos on Youtube anymore, but they are awesome none the less I will help their cause and throw them some traffic. They make the claim that they are made to be shown on their site because Youtube has a bunch of BS compression, but they aren’t fooling anyone…lol

Glad to see someone use their laptop computers and Youtube to do some advertising, but most people realize that putting a few of their vids on Youtube is going to get them so much more traffic than anything else ever could considering that they want you to buy their t-shirts and crap.

Here’s their explanation as to why Metal Gear Awesome isn’t on Youtube:

You can see all the Metal Gear Awesome videos on their site as well as quite a few other Awesome Videos there as well. They have released Metal Gear Awesome 2 already as well so you can check out them both.

New York Mets and Fans Rickroll’d

A contest was held online that asked fans to vote for the new 8th inning song at the New York Mets games. You know what happens when voting online that involves music happens? Rickrolls happen.

After massive amounts of Digg users and message board groups began to storm the voting the New York Mets had no other choice, but to honor the victor. Rick Astley and his Classic shitsong “Never Gonna Give You Up” as their 8th inning song. I love you internets.

Here is a video of a fan taping the Rickroll as it happened:
